But perhaps even more important and interesting than the record label is the artist behind the madness, that being $TYLJA. Who is he, and what’s his story? How did one man end up as the brainchild of so much creative freedom?

$TYLJA, also known as Daraja Hakizimana, is a fascinating person with an intense work ethic. Prior to his work as a recording artist, he worked as a painter showcasing his creativity to the world in a completely different medium. As his interest in art and music peaked, he began experimenting in both, combining them in the #ARTMUSIC style that he himself pioneered.




From this solid foundation, Daraja slowly built up his influence and prestige, patiently evolving his brand and sound further. Today, Daraja’s musical style is best defined by its rich layering and arrangements, combining aspects of many different genres to create a canvas of sound that blends seamlessly.

His love for freedom of expression was what led to the artist building up his own label, wanting to get away from the pressure of needing to conform to demands from higher ups. In My Block Recordz, business relationships are direct, with all of his artists dealing with Daraja himself. It’s a tale as old as time, one of being the change you want to see in the world.



My Block Recordz and $TYLJA himself have since expanded further into the world, breaking into different markets with great success. The company has their very own line of Playalife clothing, as well as a slew of talented and revolutionary performers under their banner, all taken under the wing of Daraja who helps them grow and polish their talent further.

On top of all this, $TYLJA himself hasn’t slacked off in music. On the contrary, he’s evolved his sound even more, releasing music at a constant pace while pushing himself forward as an artist endlessly. His latest EP, “AM”, features some of his finest work yet, truly being a showcase of his capabilities as a visionary and creative-minded individual.



The road forward for Daraja Hakizimana isn’t even being close to over, in fact he hasn’t even come close to reaching his peak. For the artist, the most important thing is to work hard, be patient and have a plan. These ideals have kept him on the top his game, and they’ll keep him going for many years to come.
